Tropical storm “Fiona” is on its way to Haiti
Tropical storm “Fiona” is on its way to completely destroying Haiti.

The Hydro-Meteorological Unit of Haiti (UHM) announces this Thursday, September 15 that the national territory should be affected by tropical storm “Fiona” by the beginning of next week. The population is called to vigilance.

"The UHM is already beginning to monitor this tropical storm in order to inform the population as well as the authorities on its evolution", indicated Chrisnette Saint-Georges through the daily weather report of the UHM.

The Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC) noted that Fiona, the seventh tropical depression in the Caribbean basin, turned into a tropical storm on Thursday.

Located about 875 kilometers from the Leeward Islands, Fiona is advancing at a speed of 20 km/h and should hit the Lesser Antilles by Friday evening September 16, according to available forecasts.

In the Dominican Republic, the authorities are beginning to take the necessary precautions. The Emergency Operations Center (COE) launched an early green alert on Thursday for 4 provinces in the neighboring territory.
